Me + She = Us... Just Another Update

So, a few weeks have passed since I last updated this blog. Thing is, time passes but nothing seems to change. We seem to always be doing the same things LOL

Mini Me and I have somewhat of a schedule going lately, loose but it exists. It's been helping to ensure that things get done even though we tend to change times on the schedule sometimes. Life is more important in the living than the scheduling for us.

I seem to keep lining up more projects for my freelance writing and not really getting anywhere. In fact, I've taken a bit of a set back this month with 1 business closing and my having to shift gears again. The life of a freelance writer never gets boring and you really do have to stay on your toes.

Otherwise, not much to say... I hope you are enjoying living what people are referring to as "the end of another school year." Luckily Mini Me's portfolio is done and only needs reviewed by her new evaluator and turned in. Should be a breeze though :-)

What's new in your world?

Happy Easter!

Not a whole lot new here but I did want to wish you and yours a "Happy Easter!" We've been stuck inside again except for the occasional walk and then next week it's going to get even colder yet (40s) and rule those walks out LOL I've managed to get almost all of my monthly cleaning chores done already and it's only the 7th of the month. I just can't sit still inside. I like doing things throughout the day then working around 4 - 8 PM then settling down with a good book. Mini Me is still on her night owl schedule - showering and doing some book stuff after 8 PM (boy people would think we were nuts with her gaming all day and reading all night but the joys of unschooling lies in the fact that it works for us) Anyhow, I just wanted to peek out from hiding and say "Hi, Happy Easter"

He has risen... He has risen indeed!

Strange things do happen...

Where'd my weather go? It's cool out again and instead of the AC running the windows are all open. I love the 80s when I can sit out in the sun and I already got a tan this year LOL Now someone was saying that there was a lunar eclipse tonight too. It's all a matter of global warming, which is a lesson that Mini Me and had on our walk tonight. Who's to say you can't learn at all times of the day or night, regardless of where you may be? Life may be weird but I love unschooling!
How's the weather?

I think it went from winter to summer overnight here. It's heading back down to the upper 60s this weekend and next week though. I've been outside so much that I'm already tan LOL It's very conducive for learning though since Mini Me has been outside reading with me. I've been sewing in the afternoons and she's been doing some crafting too. Then in the evening while I work she's on Roblox, which does have some educational value to it too before she decides to end the night with a workbook and some reading (most nights anyway). We've been getting plenty of exercise too - 2 or 3 walks a day definitely keeps my blood sugar in check. Most days I feel pretty good but some days I still am quite exhausted. It's also improved how I sleep at night usually too since I've been in bed by 10 and up by 9 most days ready to be outside by noon. Now you see why we love this weather and need it year around here LOL

One thing I really need to work on though: the end of the year portfolio. We're trying a new evaluator this year and are in a stricter school district. The evaluator doesn't scare me as much as the school district does (they are the type that thinks their *** don't stink LOL). I keep saying I need to finish it up and then thinking I have 2 months to do so LOL Maybe this will be what I work on Saturday while it's raining - that and a good movie may be enough to keep me from feeling too cooped up.
Where'd the week go?

It's definitely improved since Monday. We've spent a lot of time outside, which means that I've had to start working evenings again. I don't mind much as there's never anything on TV and I'd rather be outside anyway. Even Mini Me is enjoying being outside. She's definitely a night owl. We both tend to keep really busy during the day then want to spend time at night learning. For me that means reading. For her it means digging into workbooks and library books. For both of us, it works and that's what's important. I just hope that she'll continue enjoying being outside instead of spending all kinds of time online. While Roblox does have educational value, the outdoors is good for you whenever you can get the fresh air. I'm also hoping that it won't get too unbearably hot this summer and that I'll be outside a lot because it's already helping me to feel a lot better.
Another Manic Monday

does anyone remember this Madonna song? I've been having some lines from her songs pop up in my head lately. This 1 seems particularly pertinent on this rainy Monday though. It's been a long day of me longing for some change in the norm. OK so I am a home body because of my health but that doesn't mean I have to really like it LOL Instead, I actually need to do something different every once in a while. Mini Me on the other hand is content to play Roblox forever on end. I'm glad Spring is finally here so I don't have to sit and watch her for hours on end. I know she's learning things (math, art, typing, spelling, computer programming to name a few) but it still bugs me. Then it comes night time and she's ready to turn on the TV open some of the workbooks we have around here or living books I've gotten her from the library and do some of what I call "real learning." Of course, that's the traditional schooler coming out of me LOL Nevertheless, days and days go on and on like this. Meanwhile I do TONS of plastic canvas sewing, read lots of books, write at least 5 articles a day, remain active in my work forums, do paid surveys and cook. I've actually been reading a book or 2 a week anymore. I don't know where I'm going to find all the titles when my list wears out but I'll have to because it helps to keep me sane as the TV is nothing but re-runs anymore and because warm weather is here and I'll want to sit outside. (I feel funny sewing outside). The only days that seem different are Wednesday when Mini Me goes with my dad and Thursday when we go shopping for the week. To break it up I'm starting to walk again, I took a nap today and I even made some foods we haven't tried before from my low carb recipes I've found. I need to keep breaking up the monotony though or it'll continue being another manic Monday even though it's Tuesday, Wednesday or some other day LOL
Sunday Sweet Sunday

I think Spring has finally sprung! I love this time of year... Not too hot, not too cold, just right and coupled with the sweet chirp of birds. I was able to go walking and sit outside and read today. Mini Me went for a walk with me but then was inside. I'm hoping this city kid won't hibernate inside all summer too. I mean, it's bad enough for the winter but now that spring is here and there's fresh air to be breathed... I'll be outside if anyone needs anything LOL
Struggling

There are now some days when I get out of bed but end up napping 2 or 3 times. Today was one of those days. It's frustrating that my health is so bad. I'm fortunate that Mini Me is a good kid but it's hard on her too. Even though I'm having these days I'm glad I can still get stuff done (like laundry, kitty litter, cooking, dishes, shower today). I just don't like the fact that I'm having them at least once a week and, if I'm lucky, once every 2 weeks. This week though I've had 2 of them :( Please keep us in your prayers.
Trying to revive the blog...

I tend to hibernate sometimes <shrug> but I think we all go through spells where we don't feel like blogging. I've thought about this blog a lot but just haven't done anything about it LOL I've been working on other parts of my life instead. I didn't make any any new year's resolutions this year but I've been changing things in my life nevertheless. Hopefully the changes are for the better. It includes things like daily devotions, a food journal, getting Mini Me more on track with doing other things than playing Roblox (I've been spending lots of time reading - about 1 book a week), budgeting better and now hopefully blogging again and getting out walking again now that Spring is almost here. So far I've done all but the walking and the blogging so that's what I'm working on now. I know I need to work on the other things to make them more a part of my life but "practice makes perfect." I figure unschooling is about being a role model and so that's why I'm working on my life now. What's new with you?
The Holiday Season

I keep forgetting to blog *DUH* LOL We've been so busy lately, it's as if Thanksgiving just flew by. Mini Me did read a lot of great Thanksgiving books this year and we had an enjoyable time at my parents but I hate how fast the holiday season seems to go. I know it's partially due to how busy we get but I don't want to be that busy this year, which is why we will not be doing a lot of the things that we busied our schedules with in the past. Instead, I'm opting to watch many more Christmas movies, work a lot less and simply settle in to enjoy things a bit more. We are still going to see "A Christmas Carol" and then to the Santas from around the world display but that really makes me feel the holidays for some reason. I think it'll be even more that way this year too since we are going the Wednesday before Christmas. We're also going to look at our local light display but not on Christmas Eve, which is already filled with Mini Me's musical and dinner at Olive Garden - 2 things we love even though they keep us busy. Otherwise, no busy-ness LOL So, what are your plans? And how was your Thanksgiving?
